Andrew Griffin:

Andy is the primary founder of the BAT project, and is a certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist. He is an avid cyclist and worked in the bicycle industry for ten years. Generally Andy is the scoper in the bike formation, the sighted lead person who blazes the trail and establishes a fixed auditory position. In addition he does the bike maintenance training and equipment checks.

Daniel Kish:

Dan is congenitally and totally blind, is a certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist, and holds two Master's Degrees, one in psychology, and one in special education. He has appeared on national television using echo location to navigate through obstacles while riding his bike. Dan was instrumental in bringing the BAT project to life. He trains blind individuals with traditional methods as well as with echo location to enhance their perceptual skills. With newcomers, Dan evaluates and consults with each rider to determine perceptual functioning, instructional ability, and fitness.

Janet Peterson:

Janet has a Master's Degree in exercise physiology, and is a certified personal trainer. She has taught many courses at the university level, including a fitness course which involves basic mountain biking. Currently, Janet is working toward her Doctorate in Public Health. In the bike formation, she is usually the spotter and oversees the general formation from the rear. She attends to the physical needs and conditioning of the riders.

Brian serves as the TEAM BAT Project Manager. He is in charge of furthering TEAM BAT's growth and success. Having lost his vision at age 14, he has re-established and developed highly competitive athletic and leadership qualities in a short time. He rides with exceptional form, and has especially fine bike handling skills. Brian is an excellent role model and advises and assists newer BATS.

Jaymes (Jay) Squires-Pospisil:

Jay is our Activities Coordinator, and one of our youngest BATS. He is also one of our most outspoken with ideas, opinions, insights, and humor. Though his vision is extremely poor, Jay has shot video footage of TEAM BAT in action which was aired on Ripley's "Believe It or Not" in August, 2000. He also assists by taking a lead position in the formation during rides.
